朝日米は、コシヒカリやササニシキなど、人気品種の祖先にあたる希少な在来品種です。

もち米との交配を行っていないため、もちもちとしすぎず、大粒で適度な粘り、

そしてしっかりとした歯ごたえが特徴。噛むほどに、ふくよかで上品な甘みが広がります。

6/9最初の田植えから11週間経ち穂達が出てきました☺️

この瞬間がいつも嬉しい！

しかし現実的には記録的な小雨だった今夏、今一番水が必要なのに溜池の水は貯水率10%？位😭

貴重な水を地域全体で共有するのは難しいけど、お隣の田圃のオーナーに断って初めてポンプを使って水を汲み上げています。
汲み上げた水をさらに自分の圃場内で共有している状況、、
稲達はまだまだ元気だけど、やっぱり毎年違う何か問題があり、自分への課題となります。

また西大寺に引っ越ししてから初めて植えたイチジクも実をつけてくれました♪
４年前に友人のポマイカイ農園にあるイチジク畑から、脇芽を頂いて育ててきたんだけど、やっぱり果樹は実る迄時間がかかるから大変だと実感しております😅
肥料や農薬を使って早く収穫したい気持ちを体感出来ました💦
果樹にも僕は入れないけどね！焦らずじっくりと育てて行きましょ♪

あと約2ヶ月で稲刈りです。
今から楽しみですね〜🔥

But realistically, with this summer’s record-breaking light rainfall, we need water the most right now—yet the reservoir is only about 10% full? 😭

It’s hard to share this precious water with the whole community, but after asking the owner of the neighboring rice field for permission, I’m using a pump to draw water for the first time.
I’m even having to share the water I’ve pumped right within my own field…
The rice plants are still doing well, but as always, there’s a different problem every year—it’s a challenge I have to face.
Let’s keep pushing forward~ 🔥🔥🔥

暑い日が続いていますね、皆様お元気でお過ごしでしょうか？

毎日草刈りに追われていて、時差ありの投稿になってしまいました。。

岡山県南部私達の地域は梅雨明けからほぼまとまった雨が降らず、今後の雨空を期待している今日この頃です😂

7月後半から田圃は土用干しに入り、給水を停止し8月5日頃から徐々に給水を開始しました。

土用干しは田圃内に発生したガス抜きや稲刈り時の地盤強化など、行う理由は様々ある様です。
我々の地域でも毎年行っています。

肥料を入れている慣行栽培で育てている近所の農家さん達の田圃に比べ、私達の田圃はガスの
発生があまり感じられなかったかなぁ。

その証拠に田圃内の藻等の発生が今年は非常に少なく、年々自然栽培に適した田圃へ変わって行っていると実感！

理想的な圃場に変化していて嬉しいですね☺️

さぁ稲穂がそろそろ出てくる時期です！

あとは雨が降る事を願っています🙏

また今更ですが、去年田園内で転倒して壊れた田植え機を修理しました。
ジャンク品で処分するのは勿体ないと思って、どうにか再生出来ないかなと考えていたら、ご近所さんのサポートのおかげで、来年は使えそうな感じに直ってきました！

日々の暮らしと出会いに感謝です！

It’s been a string of hot days, hasn’t it? I hope everyone is doing well.

I’ve been so busy mowing the grass every day that this post is a bit late…

Here in our area in southern Okayama Prefecture, we haven’t had any significant rain since the end of the rainy season, so these days we’re really hoping for some rain soon 😂

Starting in late July, our rice paddies entered the “doyō-boshi” drying period; we stopped watering and gradually resumed around August 5.

There seem to be various reasons for the doyō-boshi drying period, such as releasing gases that build up in the paddies and strengthening the soil for the rice harvest.
We do this every year in our area as well.

Compared to the rice fields of neighboring farmers who use conventional farming methods with fertilizers, I didn’t really notice much gas
building up in our fields.

As proof of this, there’s been very little algae growth in our fields this year, and I can really feel that our fields are gradually becoming more suited to natural farming year by year!

I’m so happy to see them transforming into ideal fields ☺️

Now it’s about time for the rice ears to start appearing!

All that’s left is to hope for some rain 🙏

Also, better late than never, but I repaired the rice transplanter that broke after I fell over in the field last year.

Thanks to the support of my neighbors, it’s been fixed up enough that it looks like we’ll be able to use it again next year!

I’m so grateful for my daily life and the people I meet!

今季初の水田除草機搭乗🎶

去年はあまり出番がなかったんだけど、今年はフルで働いてもらいます！
我々自然栽培米農家と、一般的な農法で育てる慣行栽培米農家の決定的な違いはこの除草作業でしょう。慣行栽培米農家は除草剤を使用するもんね。田植えと同時に笑

この作業がなければ、規模も拡大出来るだろうし、野菜などの栽培も出来るかも知れないが、作業的には嫌いな作業ではないので除草機にも拘って軽トラックにも乗せれる乗用タイプを購入。

瀬戸内市の圃場5.5反（1500坪）の田んぼで使ってみたら、３時間もしないで終了☑️

このスピード感で作業していけば一人でも規模は大きく出来る事を実感！
この先も農業していく上で、設備投資って重要！いつまでも若くないしね😭

後日除草後の圃場を見に行くとしっかり除草出来ていたし、稲も一気に成長していた🙌
田圃内の水と土の間に酸素が入ると、植物は一気に成長するみたい！凄👍

機械も年々高くなっていて、自分が購入した時より10%値上がりしてるよ。。
物価上昇も恐ろしいスピードで上がっております🥹

除草作業も最低でももう一１回、出来ればあと2回！土用丑の日前までが目標です！

近所の田んぼでは田植え終了後、長雨の影響でジャンボタニシが激増してしまい、植えたばかりの苗が捕食されてしまいました、、
妻と大慌てで補植作業に追われてます😭

全部で１反（300坪）位やられたかな泣
田植え機で植え直すレベルだよ💢

毎年良い部分と悪い部分は入れ替わりますが、今のところ水不足はなさそうなので、安心しています。

今年の田植えが本日終了しました。

毎年田植えの時期は何か問題があるんだけど、今年も本当に色々ありました笑

体調崩してダウンしていたり、プライベートでも来客が多く来てくれたり。
嬉しいんだけど、6月じゃなかったらもっと嬉しいんだけどなぁ〜🤣

また田植え機を今年は初めて農機具屋さんからレンタルして田植えしてみましたが、これもまた初めての借り物機械ということで、癖や性能を理解できた頃に終了してしまいました。農家さんがなぜみんな自分の機械を所有するのか。答えは明白。

来年は準備出来ますように！

今年は多くの実りと恩恵を得れますように！と無事終了した田植えの報告に安仁神社へ参拝（ani jinja）

4回目の田植えを経験した我が家。長男もだいぶお手伝いの幅が増えてきて助かっています。
妻も田植え機に跨り颯爽と田植えをしてくれて、その間に僕が代掻きを出来るようになり、ようやくオペレーションがスムーズになってきました。Good job!LOL

予定していた日程から1日遅れですが、去年とは雨の振り方が全然違うので池を水源としている私達は非常に喜ばしい2026年産御米作りスタートです。

スタートラインに立ったばかり。収穫まで走り抜けます！

This year’s rice planting wrapped up today.

Every year, something seems to go wrong during rice planting season, and this year was no exception—we really went through a lot, haha.

I was out of commission due to illness, and I had a lot of guests visiting me personally, too.
I’m happy about it, but I’d be even happier if it weren’t June… 🤣

Also, for the first time this year, I rented a rice transplanter from an agricultural equipment dealer to do the planting. But since it was my first time using a rented machine, by the time I’d gotten the hang of its quirks and performance, the season was already over. Why do farmers all own their own machinery? The answer is obvious.

I hope I can be better prepared next year!

Praying for a bountiful harvest and many blessings this year! I paid a visit to Ani Shrine (Ani Jinja) to give thanks for the successful completion of the rice planting.

This marks our family’s fourth time planting rice. My eldest son is helping out with a much wider range of tasks now, which is a huge help.
My wife also hopped on the rice transplanter and planted the rice with great flair, and during that time, I was able to level the field, so our operations are finally running smoothly. Good job! LOL

We’re one day behind our original schedule, but since the rainfall patterns are completely different from last year, we—who rely on a pond as our water source—are very pleased to have started production of our 2026 rice crop.

We’ve just crossed the starting line. We’ll keep running all the way to harvest!

今年の田植えが本日終了しました。

毎年田植えの時期は何か問題があるんだけど、今年も本当に色々ありました笑

体調崩してダウンしていたり、プライベートでも来客が多く来てくれたり。
嬉しいんだけど、6月じゃなかったらもっと嬉しいんだけどなぁ〜🤣

また田植え機を今年は初めて農機具屋さんからレンタルして田植えしてみましたが、これもまた初めての借り物機械ということで、癖や性能を理解できた頃に終了してしまいました。農家さんがなぜみんな自分の機械を所有するのか。答えは明白。

来年は準備出来ますように！

今年は多くの実りと恩恵を得れますように！と無事終了した田植えの報告に安仁神社へ参拝（ani jinja）

4回目の田植えを経験した我が家。長男もだいぶお手伝いの幅が増えてきて助かっています。
妻も田植え機に跨り颯爽と田植えをしてくれて、その間に僕が代掻きを出来るようになり、ようやくオペレーションがスムーズになってきました。Good job!LOL

予定していた日程から1日遅れですが、去年とは雨の振り方が全然違うので池を水源としている私達は非常に喜ばしい2026年産御米作りスタートです。

スタートラインに立ったばかり。収穫まで走り抜けます！

This year’s rice planting wrapped up today.

Every year, something seems to go wrong during rice planting season, and this year was no exception—we really went through a lot, haha.

I was out of commission due to illness, and I had a lot of guests visiting me personally, too.
I’m happy about it, but I’d be even happier if it weren’t June… 🤣

Also, for the first time this year, I rented a rice transplanter from an agricultural equipment dealer to do the planting. But since it was my first time using a rented machine, by the time I’d gotten the hang of its quirks and performance, the season was already over. Why do farmers all own their own machinery? The answer is obvious.

I hope I can be better prepared next year!

Praying for a bountiful harvest and many blessings this year! I paid a visit to Ani Shrine (Ani Jinja) to give thanks for the successful completion of the rice planting.

Last weekend, I took the kids out for some nighttime fun.
It’s one of those seasonal joys unique to country life—besides food, that is (lol).
I hope to protect this environment so it remains unchanged, allowing us to continue living in harmony with nature even as the kids grow up.

Water has been let into the rice paddies around my house too, so I’m swamped 💦
At night, the chorus of frogs echoes soothingly through the air 🎶

While she’s at it, I take care of the land preparation, and we’re gradually starting to work like a real team.

ようやく近況報告です笑

1ヶ月間種子とドップリ向き合いました笑

今年も種蒔きは3度やり、しっかり育った苗が苗箱で250枚あれば良いのですが、450枚仕込みました。

数撃てば当たる方式で、450箱から育ちの良い選抜250箱で田植えに挑みます。

ビニールハウスの苗代も足りなくなり、急遽ハウス脇と玉葱植えていた畑に苗場を作る事になり、大忙しでした💦
失敗は成功の元とはいえ、今年も種蒔きからシビれる忙しさでした😆

今年種蒔き1回目苗の発芽率は良かったけど、発芽するタイミングがバラバラで、苗箱の中で凹凸が凄い😢

色々調べてみて、発芽するまでなるべく暗くしてみたり工夫してみたら、2回目は良くなってきて、ようやく一安心‼︎

3回目もベストを尽くしましたが、なかなか思い通りには行きませんね笑
発芽率も発芽タイミングもよろしくありませんでした。

今年の種蒔きは💯点満点中65点ぐらいかな😭

去年より半歩位は良かったかも😆
良しとするか！

そして今週はいよいよ瀬戸内市の田圃で田植えです♪

Finally, an update on what’s been going on (lol).

I’ve been completely immersed in seeds for the past month (lol).

I’ve sown seeds three times this year as well. Ideally, I’d be happy with 250 trays of well-grown seedlings, but I ended up preparing 450.

I’m taking a “shotgun approach”—I’ll select the 250 best-growing trays from the 450 to use for transplanting.

We ran out of space in the greenhouse nursery, so I had to quickly set up additional seedling beds next to the greenhouse and in the field where I’d been growing onions—it was a mad rush! 💦
They say failure is the mother of success, but this year was just as nerve-wracking and hectic as ever, right from the moment I sowed the seeds. 😆

The germination rate for my first seed-sowing this year was good, but the timing was all over the place, so the seedling trays ended up with huge unevenness 😢

I did some research and tried keeping them as dark as possible until they sprouted, and the second round turned out better—finally, a sigh of relief‼︎

I gave it my all for the third round too, but things just don’t go as planned, do they? lol
Neither the germination rate nor the timing was great.

I’d give this year’s seed sowing about a 65 out of 100 😭

Maybe it was half a step better than last year 😆
I’ll call it a win!

And this week, it’s finally time for rice planting in the paddies of Setouchi City ♪

また10日後位に2回目の種蒔きを予定しています。
